Skoda Octavia RS becomes hybrid

Skoda Octavia RS

The new generation Skoda Octavia RS will be available in the market in 2021 with a hybrid drive. It is clear from his words that the future model will allow its owner to travel to electricity because it will offer a current range of up to 70 km. And during the weekends the combination of an internal combustion engine and an electric motor will be available to the driver if he wants to run faster – on a runway, for example.

Škoda’s first hybrid, however, will be the flagship Superb, this version coming out next year. It will be able to charge from the power grid as it will rely on a power unit that is similar to that used in the Skoda Vision RS concept presented at the Paris Motor Show.

This prototype features a combined 150-hp 1.5-liter turbocharged TSI petrol engine. and a 102 hp electric engine. The batteries have a capacity of 13 kW / h, and the unit lets Vision RS accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds and travels 70 km.

Now the Skoda Octavia RS relies on a 2.0-liter turbocharger with 245 hp coupled with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed DSG transmission. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 6.6 seconds and the maximum speed is limited to 250 km/h.
