Sports cars sales in 2018 reached 770,524, but the figure reports a slight decline of 4.3% YoY.
As in 2017, the top positions are occupied by American models. The most popular sports car in the world last year was the Ford Mustang with 116,952 units sold. Second place is the Dodge Charger sports sedan (91,677), and the third is Dodge Challenger (70,816).
The remaining models in the Top 10 are Chevrolet Camaro (57,422 units sold), Tesla Model X (56,093), Kia Stinger (33,794), Mazda MX-5 (31,782), Porsche 911 (31,595), Chevrolet Corvette (22,042) and Audi TT (18,882).
In the United States, Chevrolet Camaro deliveries totalled 11,135 units in Q4 2018, a decrease of about 22% compared to 14,213 units sold in Q4 2017.
During the complete 2018 calendar year, Camaro sales decreased about 25% to 50,963 units.
Camaro’s 21.66% Q4 sales drop in the United States kept it in third and last place in its direct competitive set in terms of overall monthly sales volume – behind the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger.
