Chinese automaker Nio showed its second electric car. This is the ES6 crossover, which is more compact and cheaper than the first ES8 model, and will allow the Shanghai manufacturer to enter a new segment of the market, which will bring him more profits.
The car fans have already named Nio a “Chinese Tesla” as the company not only develops electric cars but also uses the most advanced technology in the production of its models. In the case of ES6, it is based on aluminium and carbon fibre, which reduces the weight of the machine and compensates for the weight of the batteries.
The power unit of the crossover consists of two electric motors, which offer an aggregate output of 536 hp and provide a permanent drive for the two axles. In standard mode, however, only one of the engines is available, the 214 hp, while the other – with 322 hp, is activated only at acceleration.
The motors are powered by an 84 kW/h electric battery, allowing acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and a maximum speed of 200 km/h. The mileage of the car is 510 km.
Nio ES6 prices start at 51,800 USD, but for this money, the customer receives a “lightweight” version of the model with just one electric motor with 214 hp. The two-engine version and a powerful battery cost 64,800 USD. The first cars will be delivered to customers in the summer of 2019.
