Volkswagen SUVs are more than ever. You can buy a few high-end cars, starting with the T-Cross and ending with Touareg and Atlas. Moreover, the German automaker puts the final touch of its upcoming electric vehicle, which will be placed under the ID sub-brand. All of these will be based on the MEB architecture, a universal platform that will ultimately create new zero-emission cars.
Despite the presence of many vehicles, Volkswagen is not happy with them. So the brand will launch a Land Rover Defender opponent. If it is approved for production, the model will probably also use the mentioned MEB platform.
Unofficially called Volkswagen T-Rug, it is expected to appear with two-, three- and five-door body styles. The first one should be about 4.5 meters long and the second one about 4.85 meters. The five-door option will be 125 mm longer than the last Mercedes-Benz G-Class.
In addition, Volkswagen T-Rug is also expected to take advantage of durable materials.
Volkswagen should present the T-Rug in 2022. Of course, if it gets the green light for production. Still, we are not in a hurry to be happy because nothing is confirmed and the company may give up.
