Volkswagen compact pickup

Volkswagen prepares an entirely new compact pickup, which will be presented on November 6th. At the same time, the German manufacturer confirmed the development of a new SUV that will have to compete with Jeep Renegade and Honda HR-V.

Volkswagen did not announce their new urban pickup, which will be shown at the Sao Paulo Motor Show in Brazil. It was only specified that the model combines the best qualities of SUVs and pickups with a “multifunctional cargo area” that can be increased after the rear panel has been removed.

It is also specified that the pickup is designed for cities, and its compact dimensions make it convenient for such conditions. It will be built on the MQB platform, but will be smaller than Amarok. Its production will start in 2020, with the main market being Latin America.

For North America, Volkswagen is preparing a compact crossover. The German automaker do not offer T-Cross on this continent, as well as the slightly larger T-Roc. The company, however, is impressed by the growth of the car market in this class in the United States.

Currently, the cheapest Volkswagen SUV in the US is Tiguan, which costs about 25,000 USD. The German automaker also want to offer a smaller size model that will use the MQB platform, rivaling not only Jeep Renegade, but also Honda HR-V. The new crossover will be available in 2020, with a cost of around 20,000 USD.
