Hyundai presented racing version of the hot hatchback Veloster N at the Detroit Auto Show. The car is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharger that develops 350 hp and will cost 135,000 USD.
Hyundai’s partner, the Bryan Herta Autosport team, who last season took part in the Blancpain World Challenge America Championship with the i30 N TCR. In the new season, Brian Hertha will compete in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge.
The Hyundai Veloster N is unique because of its asymmetrical bodywork. The hatchback has two doors on the right and one on the left. Technical Veloster N TCR at 85% repeats i30 N TCR. It features a 2.0-liter turbocharged direct-injection turbocharger and the XTrac 6-speed gearbox. Both machines are engineered by Hyundai Motorsport, which is based in Alzenau (Germany).
The reasons for changing the model are marketing. The 5-door i30 hatch is sold in the US under the name Elantra GT but is not available in the N-version. However, it will be available for Veloster, which in turn is not available to customers in Europe.
The racing Hyundai Veloster N TCR is designed specifically for the US market, while the rest of the world will continue to offer the i30 N TCR.
