Toyota introduced the new generation of the Corolla sedan to the US market. The model has gone on the TNGA platform with a modified Diesel, a new 2.0-liter Dynamic Force engine and a Dynamic-Shift CVT variable-drive transmission. Compared to the previous generation, the sedan has become wider, with the front being shorter and the rear slightly wider. The height of the vehicle is also slightly reduced. For the first time, 18-inch wheels are available for the model, although the base version comes with 16-inch steel.
Toyota designates the style of the salon as “sensual minimalism”. A multimedia system that can be diagonally 7 or 8 inches is placed in the center of the front panel. The instrument panel is a combination of an analogue odometer and a rev counter with on-board computer display (4.2 or 7 inches). The seats can be made of fabric or SofTex material.
The new Toyota Corolla sedan is equipped with a more compact and more efficient air conditioning system that does not allow glasses to jump. The multimedia system is compatible with Apple CarPlay, equipped with Amazon Alexa Voice Assistant, WiFi, Bluetooth, USB ports and Voice Recognition System.
The engine range consists of a 1.8-liter naturally aspirated engine from the previous generation and the new 2.0 Dynamic Force with a combined injection and an electric water pump. Its power is 171 hp and 205 Nm. Both engines combine with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a Dynamic-Shift CVT.
The new Toyota Corolla sedan also features a Safety Sense 2.0 safety kit, including a front-end collision avoidance system, adaptive cruise control, belt-keeping system, automatic high-beam control and road signs recognition.
