Tesla adds smart suspension on Model 3

Tesla Model 3

After about half a year, the company Tesla Motors will offer customers an additional option for the new Model 3. This is the company pneumatic suspension Smart Air, said in his blot on Twitter chief producer of electric Elon Musk.

The Smart Air pneumatic suspension changes the vehicle’s clearance by using special sensor information and the GPS system. In addition, at high speed, ground clearance is minimized due to the reduction in air resistance and thus reduces energy consumption.

It is assumed that the option will cost customers about $ 3,000. It will appear in the modification of the Tesla Model 3 with two electric motors, the release of which is planned for the beginning of 2018.

The Tesla Model 3 is currently available with only one electric engine developing 258 hp. With it the electric vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds and develops a maximum speed of 225 km/h. The battery pack has a capacity of 80.5 kW/h, delivering up to 500 km. The cost of this version is $ 44,000.

  1. This looks like a very old article (it mentions 2018) and AFAIK air suspension for model 3 is NOT happening.

This was posted/refreshed in April 2019, maybe it should be amended/deleted and/or verified?
