Ford’s latest SUV range has achieved a new record in Europe. Sales of the Ford EcoSport, Kuga and Edge reached almost 259,200 units since the beginning of the year to the end of November, making 2018 the best year ever by sales of SUV vehicles, with the remaining one month to the end.
“Sales of SUV vehicles are increasing faster than any other model in Europe and our diverse range – EcoSport, Kuga and Edge – attracts customers like never before, with its bold and sporty design, modern technologies, such as intelligent an all-wheel-drive system that provides customers with driving confidence”, said Roelant de Waard, Vice President of Marketing, Sales and Services in Ford Europe.
The market share of Ford SUVs continues to grow in 2018 for the third consecutive year, and now they account for more than one in five Ford cars sold in Europe.
The sales of Ford SUVs from January to November 2018 have risen by 21% compared to the first 11 months of 2017. The increase in Ford SUV models driven by best-ever sales of two models: the compact EcoSport with 105% growth since the beginning of the year compared to last, and midsize Kuga, which sales rose by 27% compared with January-November 2017.
So far Ford has sold over 104,600 EcoSports in Europe in 2018. EcoSport is produced in neighboring Romania. Ford Kuga sales amount to 145,300 cars and Edge are 34,000.
Ford also introduced a new family of crossover models inspired by SUVs – Focus Active, Fiesta Active, and KA+ Active.
