Mercedes-Benz has introduced a new base version of its S-Class flagship. It is called 320L and is equipped with a hybrid power unit based on a 2.0-liter gasoline turbocharger. The same drivetrain already received the Mercedes-Benz E 350 coupe and convertible.
The Mercedes-Benz S 320 L consists of a M274 gasoline engine with two twin-scroll turbines that develops 299 hp. and 400 Nm of torque. The 4-cylinder engine works in combination with a 9-speed automatic transmission.
Additional assistance is provided by the EQ-Boost system, which is a starter-generator connected to a belt. It provides 14 hp. and 150 Nm, powered by a separate 48-volt network. Thanks to it, power is accelerated for a short time – at acceleration. He can also extinguish and start the engine while driving.
The new S-Class modification replaces the current version with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine and a 9-speed gearbox. The power of this model was 272 hp. The hybrid version of the 2.0-liter engine will be available only on the market in China for the first time.
