Mercedes-Benz releases hybrid mid-engine supercar

The German company Mercedes-Benz plans to launch a hybrid mid-engine supercar. This is announced by Autocar, according to which the AMG workshop will deal with the development of the model.

The design of the car will be entirely made of carbon and aluminum. At the core of the new power unit will be a petrol V6 engine with a relatively modest volume. According to AMG’s chief executive officer, Tobias Moyres, the new model will be distinctive from the previously presented Mercedes-AMG GT (pictured).

If the bosses of the Daimler concern give the green light to the project, a couple of modifications will be released from the new supercar – Coupe, Convertible, and some special versions. One of the main competitors of the model will be the BMW i8, but the Mercedes-Benz car will be far more powerful.

It is the power of the hybrid that will allow the new hybrid to compete with cars such as McLaren 650S and Ferrari 488. The two sports cars develop respectively 650 and 670 hp, and the Mercedes-AMG model is expected to have similar characteristics.

By contrast, Mercedes-Benz rivals also do not sleep, but they are working hard in this direction. Just days ago, it became clear that Audi is developing a new sports model – R6, which will take place between TT and R8 in the brand range
