Mercedes-Benz 190E Avantgarde

In 1992, Mercedes-Benz decided to warm up its interest in its most compact and affordable model at the time, 190E, releasing a limited edition Avantgarde version featuring three varieties: Azzurro, Rosso and Verde (Blue, Red, Green).

Mercedes-Benz 190E Avantgarde Rosso is equipped with a 1.8-liter petrol engine with a power of 109 hp. Its bodywork is painted in a stunning burgundy, and the saloon features avant-garde color combinations. Quite unusual frivolity for the Germans. This modification was produced in limited quantity of 2,300 units.

The second is the 190E Avantgarde Azurro, which comes with only a 2.3-liter 136 horsepower petrol engine, sport suspension, a 70 liter fuel tank, a beautiful and deep blue body color, and an original leather interior where the elements of each seat are painted in bright colors. This modification was produced in limited quantity of 950 units.

The rarest version, produced in only 750 units, is Avantgarde Verde with a 2.5-liter diesel engine with 90 hp. Its bodywork is painted green and the interior has inserts on the seats in its color.

Interestingly, these cars often meet for sale in Europe. The price of well preserved specimens starts at 10,000 EUR. The most expensive, of course, is the Verde version, which averages around 22-23,000 EUR.

  1. Hi Viliyana,
I have a 1993 Mercedes 190E 2.3 Avantgarde Rosso with 140,000km. I bought this car about 7 years ago with 76,000km. It was my daily ride to and from the office in downtown Toronto. The car is in mint condition – except for some cosmetic issues with the clear paint – which is peeling off in several places. I’m putting this car for sale – my question is how much to ask for. Is it a classic that lots of people would be looking for ?
Please let me know when you have a minute.

    Thanks,
    Sherif
