Honda Accord Hybrid

In 2018, Honda will offer an entirely new hybrid model that currently does not have an internal combustion engine.

The car currently in development has no name, but it is known that it will take on the technology of the Honda Accord Hybrid, renewed last year. This is the most economical sedan on the American market, averaging its competitors Ford Fusion Hybrid and Toyota Camry Hybrid.

According to official data, the hybrid Accord spends only 4.9 l / 100 km. In its 212 hp unit. there is a 2.0-liter gasoline engine running on the Atkinson cycle and an electric motor. The car has 3 modes of operation, and this Honda technology can also be used in light-duty models.

The Japanese foresee for up to 2 years that half of the brand new models marketed in the US will be equipped with hybrid technology. The goal is that in 2030 about two-thirds of Honda’s sales will be “green” models.

Interestingly, Honda stopped production of the CR-Z hybrid, and also dropped out of the hybrid Civic, from the hybrid version of the Accord, which is powered by the power grid. It is the latter that will be replaced by the new model, which will most likely become part of the Clarity family. It now includes only a hydrogen car that is only available in California.
