Dacia Duster will become a pickup

The new Dacia Duster will become a pickup after the parent company Renault has approved the project. This revealed the CEO of Renault Romania, Hakim Boutehra, in an interview. In his words, the new Dacia Duster pickup will be created primarily for work purposes.

To carry out the project, Renault’s technical center in Titu will work with Romturingia, which specializes in automotive bodywork. This is not going to be the first collaboration between the two manufacturers, as the previous Duster pickup, limited to just 500 units, was the result of such co-operation.

No details are yet available on the future pickup, but two engines are supposed to be available, namely the 1.5-liter diesel dCi and the 1.3-liter petrol TCe. It is also possible to include a four-wheel drive system in the equipment.

It is expected that the new version of Duster will be available in the second quarter of this year. Besides the pickup, Dacia is considering to show three new models by the end of 2019.
