The current generation of the BMW X3 with the F25 index appeared in 2010 and its crossover coupe F26 came out four years later. Bavarians are now preparing to change generations in both models, with the difference in their appearance on the market not going to be that big.
The new X3 (G01) will be released this summer, and the X4 (G02) will be ready in autumn 2018. Both models are built on the new modular platform CLAR. Thanks to it, the crossovers will be lighter and will get more versions, as well as a larger range of engines.
According to the release, the next BMW X4 will also be available in full M-modification. Now the most powerful version of the body is the M40i, which relies on a six-cylinder gasoline turbocharger that develops 360 hp. and 465 Nm. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 4.9 seconds. The new X4 M will also be equipped with a 6-cylinder turbocharger – the S55, which will have 450 hp.
The remaining units are B48 (2.0 liters, 252 hp and 350 Nm) and B58 (3.0 liters, 340 hp and 450 Nm) as well as B47 (2.0 liter, 190 hp and 400 Nm) and a new 6-cylinder B57 (3.0 liters, 265 hp and 620 Nm).
There will also be a hybrid modification, with all versions being propelled to all four wheels. Customers will be offered both a 6-speed manual gearbox and an 8-speed ZF.
