BMW urgently changes X5 generation

BMW X5

The current generation of the BMW X5 appeared only three years ago but in Bavarian concern they are ready to retire it and replace it with a new one. This is reported by Motoring, which refers to one of the top brand managers Mark Werner.

According to his words, the main reason for this change is the success of the new CLAR platform, which has built the 7-Series flagship marker last year. The chassis has been so successful that BMW intends to transfer all possible models to it.

Werner revealed that the company is already working hard on the next X5. So, instead of the 3-4 years after the launch of a facelift model, a completely new car will appear on the market. And the current X5 F15 crossover will be retired.

Together with the CLAR platform, the big SUV will be borrowed from the BMW 7 Series and the range of engines. After the new X5 will appear the bigger X7, which will be built on the same chassis and will offer a saloon with 7 seats. Its length will be about 50 cm larger than the X5.

In addition to 6- and 8-cylinder engines, the future X7 will also be available with a V12 engine as the X5 is missing. There will also be a completely hybrid e-Drive version that only 50 kms of electricity can travel.
