Mazda has revamped its MX-5 roadster in 2019, with key enhancements including the “boost” of the 2.0-liter SkyActive-G engine. According to the company, it produces 181 hp and 205 Nm of torque. The power of the crankshaft does not fall below 185.6 hp (209 Nm), and even more impressive is that the rear wheels reach 166.8 hp.
And if even in this case the power seems to be insufficient, the BBR GTI has a solution for the owners of the MX-5 2019. Only by remounting the DENSO control unit, the tuning gurus manage to “pull out” 191.8 hp and 212 Nm of the two-liter engine. There is one catch in the case, however, and it is that these results are achieved with 99 octane gasoline.
The British BBR are planning to build Mazda’s intake and exhaust manifolds in the near future to help them cross the border of 200 hp without interfering with forced stuffing.
On the other hand, there are also turbocharges for the model but agree that the mandatory turbo lag will mask all the pleasure of the agility of the atmospheric 4-cylinder engine.
If you are already opening the BBR GTI tuning kit, consider the price that ranges between 2195 and 2395 GBP.
