Alpna introduced its new version of the BMW 5-Series sedan. The model has been named Alpina B5 and its power is even greater than that of the new generation of the standard BMW M5.

Under the hood is the modified version BMW M550i xDrive, which relies on a 4.4-liter V8 engine with a power of 468 hp and 650 Nm of torque. Alpina engineers’ engagement has led to 146 hp and 150 Nm. In the end, the sedan developed 608 hp and 800 Nm. For comparison, the new BMW M5 offers 600 hp and 750 Nm of torque.

Thanks to the extra dynamics, the Alpina B5 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds and up to 200 km/h in 11.4 seconds. The maximum speed of the car reaches 330 km/h. The standard M5 is faster at acceleration – 4.1 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h, but even with the M Driver Package the maximum package can develop 305 km/h.

Alpina’s upgrades have increased the price of the car accordingly. In the US, the BMW M550i xDrive starts at 77,930 USD. The Alpina B5 variant with all the equipment is estimated nearly twice as high – 149,939 USD.
